This week’s highlighted t-shirt design has the yin-yang Tajitu symbol with a scuba twist. In Zen Diver, the circles in the design are small round scuba diver down flags.

Here’s a short wrap-up of notable scuba stories from March 2010.

Grey Nurse Shark

  • Two scuba divers in Floria rescued a nurse shark that had a Frisbee stuck around its neck. Remarkably, the rescue was caught on tape.
  • A man in the Fujian province of China found a novel way to propose marriage to his girlfriend: underwater. The man, Wang Jian, had been taking scuba lessons in private and proposed during a visit to the Fuzhou Zuohai Aquarium.
  • Twenty Boy Scouts in North Bend, Washington are apparently the among the first in the nation to complete the new scuba merit badge.

This week’s highlighted t-shirt designs are all stylized illustrations of marine life. Each design is made up of simple lines or silhouettes done in shades of blue. These make great gift ideas for scuba divers or anyone interested in marine life. First up we have Stylized Dolphin shown on a long sleeve dark tee.

Next up is Dolphin Ring shown on a v-neck shirt.

As recently reported by, Michael Douglas was recently re-certified as a diver. His wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, however, refuses to join her husband in his hobby. Read all about it.

This week’s highlighted t-shirt design is inspired by television’s long-running hit M*A*S*H. The sitcom was based on medics operating in the Korean War. Here the word D*I*V*E is written in the M*A*S*H style. This makes a cute gift idea for any scuba diver! Shown here on the basic American Apparel tee; available on many other shirt styles and gifts here.

This week’s highlighted t-shirt is great for anyone that loves diving with the club. Dives Well With Others is done in a retro style, complete with an old-school image of your mom along with the vintage-style text.

Underwater hockey is a sport played with a heavy (over 1kg) puck at the bottom of a swimming pool. Participants use snorkeling gear while trying to maneuver the puck across the playing area. Check out this video of this wild sport:

It’s pretty crazy because players can’t keep their eye on the puck at all times – they have to surface in order to breathe! It’s a fast-paced, high endurance team sport.

  • An British man set a new scuba diving world record in Indonesia at the beginning of the month. The diver, thirty-two-year-old Will Goodman, spent over two days underwater off the coast of Lombok.
  • In Bergen, Norway, two men dressed in scuba gear ambushed a Google Street View car as it was mapping the city. The event was captured in photographs.
  • A ten-year-old from India became the world’s youngest certified scuba diver. He completed his PADI Junior Open Water Diver certificate and made a 40 foot diver just one day after his 10th birthday, beating the old record by two days.

Here are some of the more interesting search terms that brought visitors to this site during January. You can see previous editions of this monthly post here.

From the spelling misfile: scuta stuff; hondurras women; diving clbrity; honduras wumem. Surprisingly, no one searched for hondurras wumem.

From the naked file: funny naked stuff; naked clock; naked women underwater, scuba diving; and since we are equal opportunity naked searchers: pictures of naked men scuba diving.

From the I hope they found what they were looking for because they certainly didn’t find it on this site file: scuba meaning by each letter; amputated shirt; how many parts of scuba stuff is there; a beverage with the letter e.

On that last one, let me say for the record: Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus; do you mean sleeveless?; a lot; let’s start with coffee.

A few spectacular scuba destinations would probably top every diver’s list, but no two top 10 scuba lists are the same. The 10 great destinations for scuba diving adventure list recently posted by Gadling blogger Troy Thompson goes a step further by sharing videos of his top picks. Here’s a taste; see the post for the full list and all videos.
